Expert Session: Democratizing Energy Sharing
September 17, 2024
Free for Partners & Fellows
In collaboration with Provincie Zuid-Holland, Dutch Blockchain Coalition
Simplifying sharing of energy through Tokenization
During this afternoon session you are introduced to several relevant projects, their status, challenges and opportunities. We talk about the perspective of the startup, the large corporate, the supporting infrastructure and the legal perspective. Each participant will present and discuss a different topic and their view on solutions that will be discussed with the audience. The idea is to have people with different perspectives at the table to create some tension in the conversation. Each round will have a presenter and a speaker. Participants can submit questions through the app, which the moderator will bring to the table. The session will be concluded with drinks & networking.
Can't be there in person? No problem! You will also be able to join us live online. Register to receive the Teams invitation.
Location: Provinciehuis Zuid-Holland, The Hague
Date: September 17, 2024
Participants: Max. 25. Selected audience.
Professionals in the field of energy and tokenization.

Over the past year, the Power of the Many working group has developed a comprehensive white paper. And on this afternoon, we’ll present it for the first time and highlight the key points:
- Renewable Energy Sharing: The energy sector is moving towards decentralization, emphasizing P2P trading and cooperatives, driving cost savings, environmental gains, and energy independence.
- Energy Sharing Communities and Hubs: Energy communities like Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) and Citizen Energy Communities (CECs) enhance local energy resilience and sustainability through decentralized decision-making and local governance.
- Practical Energy Sharing Solutions: Energy sharing solutions use fractional ownership, digital platforms, and smart contracts to empower stakeholders in managing shared energy resources with transparency and accountability.
- Energy Sharing Ecosystem: The energy sharing ecosystem includes Anchor, Hubs, and Service DAOs, collaborating to manage resources, facilitate P2P trading, and support energy communities.
- Energy DAO Journey: Transitioning to an Energy DAO involves engaging the community, establishing a blueprint, deploying infrastructure, and managing decentralized energy production.
The energy sector is undergoing a transformative shift towards decentralised, sustainable energy production, driven by advancements in solar panel technology, battery storage and the advent of energy communities. Decentralised autonomous organisations are poised to revolutionise energy governance by empowering households, businesses, and communities to take control of their energy resources. This expert session explores tokens that may democratise energy production, enhance transparency, and foster community participation in the renewable energy sector.

Energy sharing versus Energy Trading
By Kennard Brandenburgh, Director at DistroEnergy
Accelerate the energy transition by enabling everyone to become an energy trader, while incentivizing renewables, lowering carbon intensity and reducing energy volatility in a certified and cost-effective way. How energy trading differs from energy sharing.

Energy sharing in Italy
Alex D’Elia, Founder/CEO at ProsumeProsume allows optimal management and tracing of energy flows within a community or a local energy market. Consumers and prosumers use their unique IDs to automatically acquire locally produced electricity or share/sell the energy surplus generated by their PV plant. Example is the island of Sardinia where local citizens share (solar) energy.
